Old debts, help please

Hi
Ive made a lot of stupid mistakes in the past regarding money/debt etc. Infact 10 years ago we sold our house to pay off our debt. I suppose we didnt have to, but the alternative was to re-morgage and really didnt want to do that. We were young and foolish (both 20 at the time) but would never of run away from our responsibilities. We spent the money so we had to pay it back. Luckily we made a few thousand anyway and paid up all debts and had some spare cash tooWe were black listed for 6 years and I hated it, but know we made the right choice...I personally couldnt of slept owing this money and running away. We could have easily ran because we moved from our home but TBH it never entered my head.
We have great credit available to us now and we owe a couple of thousand on an %0 credit card, but thats it and this will be paid up by next April. It would have been sooner but have recently had to quit work due to becoming disabled and wheelchair and house bound, OH too has stopped working and is now my FT carer.
You state that murderers have the chance of parole...I agree they do..but then they have served their time in prison and possibly deserve parole. You have served no time at all but have managed while on the run and evading your debt of £40000 to build up a business and buy a home with money that was not yours...this is no comparison at all.
What goes around comes around.

I know this is straying off the point a little but I feel I have to dispell a myth. Murderers do NOT get parole. When a life sentence is issued the Lord Chief Justice sets the minimum amount of time that the offender must serve. After this time is served the offender is assessed to determine risk to the public or risk of re-offending. If it is determined that there is no/low risk then they are released on life licence. This basically means that even if the offender is suspected of commiting an offence they can be returned to prison without trial. The subject is obviously considerably more involved but I have condensed it down for brevity's sake.0 -
Hi IJJoseph
I didnt know that..sorry. I was just trying to get the point across that this is no comparison as someone already in prison have served their time (locked up etc-punished) but this guy has served nothing, but has built up his business and bought a home, been on the run so to speak and spending 40k that was not his
My uncle was sentanced to 32 years (not for murder though) then was to run concurrently, leaving 16 years, then his solicitor got it squashed further to 12 years. He was out in 7
Anyway, thats a whole other subject..lol, but thanks for explaining that.
