It might sound mean but if it comes to choosing between yourself and your grandson etc and a load of bloody rescue animals, I really do think the humans should come first. Hopefully though it wont come to that.
Can you not just go to some high street lender and see if they will remortgage for you? My undrestanding is that NR are happy for customers to go elsewhere because they dont have the funds to lend, so I dont imagine they will make it difficult to go elsewhere and if you have 85% LTV, and a full record of your self employed accounts I dont see why it would be too difficult to get a mortgage elsewhere?0 -
I'd try every avenue possible first (other than selling to one of the rent back people - just leads to loads more trouble, please don't be tempted) speak to a well-recommended local IFA team - as you'll see from my previous NR threads we're in a simular boat, and we've now decided to cut and run, sell, pocket the equity while we've still got some, and go back into rented.0

I agree with the interest only advice. although its only a short term thing. The NR will loose all its customers who can escape so it will not have to dramatically increase its SVR unless the base rate goes up. The news today says it should be 4.5% by the autumn as the BOE has to do something to get banks to lend to each other.
I should imagine that the last thing the government needs in the run up to elections this may (local government) and maybe national ones next year is lots of NR customers losing their homes because the governments bank put its rates up more than anyone else. The NR only needs to be slightly higher than the others to put off new business and encourage most of those exiting fixed deals to leave.
They will end up on watchdog and alike every day if they have the highest repossesion rates. I bet those programmes are already looking for an exclusive from the first person made homeless by the Governemnts bank.
I bet if you get the local press to picture all those at risk little animals you have the NR will start being more helpful. What a story. You might even be able to sell it.0 -

Thank you Mis sKensington but I really dont care two tits about your opinion of my "bloody rescue animals" so would appreciate you keep such nasty, stupid comments to yourself. You wouldnt be a famers wife would you? If you had read my thread correctly, you would not make such silly, ill informed comments.
Tilly, ignore her. I'm starting to think maybe missk_ensington's account has been hacked or something because her posts have been getting stranger and stranger all afternoon.

Very true, but if it came down to a choice between doing the best for my family or losing everything for the sake of the animals then I know which i would choose (ushers kids out the door).0 -

I'm not sure why you're so angry at the poster! I am sure she is just saying what most people on here are thinking too!
If you're struggling (and it sounds like you are) then it's all about prioritising your expenditure and requirements.
I'm an animal lover myself, and praise you for taking in rescue animals, but your reaction to her seems over the top to me!The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...0 -

Look I didnt come on here for advice on my personal situation. I really do not care what any one of you think about me or my family. You have no idea what you are talking about because you dont know me. Why people like Miss Kensington make me so angry is because they comment (usually pretty stupid comments) and are so intense in peeing people off they cannot even be bothered to read the thread correctly. When I came on this board I was asking for financial advice not advice on my life style that has nothing to do with anyone of you so keep your hooter out of it - thank you and good night. ( I had heard you were a pretty nasty and interferring bunch - not all of you and thank you to the people who have been very helpful) and to the last person who posted you wouldnt know what an "animal lover" was if it came and socked you in the face.
While I understand not hearing what you want to hear is hard, do you really think your reactions are proportionate.
If you believe that your financial situation is in some way detached from your lifestyle, then you're clearly bonkers.
These are hard times - and in hard times, people make unpalatable decisions. What those decisions are is clearly personal to individuals. To some, it might be selling their Porsche or Harley to make up the payments. Others might be shopping at Tesco late at night instead of Waitrose. You might have opinions on these people - you might not. Who cares.
Most people make financial decisions by altering their lifestyle. It's that simple. I am saving for a deposit on a house... so I have cut back on things I previously enjoyed. If I wasn't saving, I might be going on holiday next week, or getting a new car. Lifestyle feeds my financial situation; and vice versa.
Am sure you'd have loved the replies to be, oh don't worry Northern Rock will look after you and deliver some nice pet food to you every week as well.
Sadly, that's not going to happen.
And lastly, how you can complain about people making "pretty stupid comments" and then finish up your last post in the way you did, frankly beggars belief.
Good luck. The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...0 -
