OS Kitchen Surface Cleaners - What do you use?

Morning Old Stylers :hello:
Although I haven't posted much lately I've still been lurking!!
I've been doing the "store cupboard" challenge and using up all of my "unnecessary" cleaning products. I've done really well and used most of it up.
All I have in my cupboard now is some bleach, star drops, washing up liquid, furniture polish and white vinegar.
However I've been using a surface spray to wipe down my surfaces in my kitchen and would like to continue using one and I was wondering what OS "potion" I could refill it with once I've finished with it.
Do you make your own "surface cleaners" and if so what do you use?
Any replies would be gratefully received.

use your stardrops as a surface cleaner just dilute as per instruction on the back of the bottle..
i use a 30p pine disinfectant on my kitchen surfaces and floor unless ive been using raw meat then the bleach will come out i also dilute as per instructions on the back this has saved me a small fortune as i used to spend up to 5 quid per week on cleaning products and now its 30 p per month not bad in my opWe Make A Living By What We Get. I would just use the bleach. I tend to use bleach anyway - dilute in some hot water with maybe a squirt of washing up liquid too..
Nice clean, fresh smelling work surfaces... No germs, or stains left ;-)0 -
I just use beach for everything, floor, cupboard fronts, sink, worktops, toilet, basin, shower cubicle. I don't dilute it as I always end up splashing my clothes so I just put a blob on a cloth and wipe over like that0

"Kethry's magic potion" (that makes her sound like one of the three witches in "Macbeth"!) is one third each of Stardrops, white vinegar and water.
Now, I know that you shouldn't mix cleaning stuff (for example, bleach can release its chlorine as a gas), but this is tried and tested. Mine hasn't fizzed out of the bottle, eaten its way through it or evolved into a new lifeform.
It also goes a long way too. My main worktop is 600mm x 1000mm, and one squirt does the business. It does smell a bit "vinegary" at first, but this soon goes.
The only caveat is that, although any germs probably don't like the vinegar, it isn't a disinfectant, just a cleaner. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I use a spray bottle filled with a good slug of vinegar, a decent squirt of washing up liquid and topped up with water.....it cuts through grease and takes away any smells."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

You can buy spray bottles of cleaning vinegar (
) and washing soda in Wilkinsons. I can't quite let go of sprays yet, but they seem great. Still getting through my stash of cleaning stuff.
You can buy spray bottles really cheap (got mine at Woolworths years ago to discipline cats) and then decant dilute stardrops etc in.
Or you could save your last spray bottle of overpriced overrated supermarket cleaner, rinse it out and use that to spray.
I am a rubbish OS, but I hope that helps.Always another chapter0 -
I was going to re-use the bottle I'm using and you guys have given me some good ideas. I'm going to try them all and see which one I prefer after "testing" them.
Thanks for your replies.

I re-used a flash kitchen spray bottle with stardrops... It is really quite surprisingly powerful0

I always use Stardrops diluted in a spray bottle.0

I reuse OzKleen bottles - I still buy the carpet cleaner every now and again
- and use a mild solution of Zoflora - if there's grease around I use a spray bottle with a mild solution of washing up liquid.
I like these bottles in particular as they have a good foamy spray and you use very little solution, thus nothing gets too wet.
