Hmm, thx for the reply. Problem is I have no idea if it's fair! I was just after a rough ball-park figure going off standard variable rates/timeframes/policy amounts etc.

Probably going to accept it as it's certainly better than nothing.
  • SL wouldn't deal with me for compensation. They said my claim for compensation is with the company that sold me the policies who are no longer trading. Is this correct?
  • Thats classed as a pre-sold endowment and is more often than not treated as a mis-sale nowadays. That usually results in return of premiums plus interest.

In 1986 I was advised by a co. to take out a SL with profits endowment as a savings plan. "It would help me get a mortgage later on".

Would this be classed as a mis-sale and given it was 1986 do I have any cliam on SL as the seller is no longer trading?

If the advising company were not standard life reps, then as its pre 1988, you have nowhere to complain to.
