Am I dreaming or have FD pulled everything?

Am I dreaming this?

http://www.firstdirect.com/mortgages/rates.shtml

I know it's April first but... have they pulled everything?

"Sorry, owing to unprecedented demand, we have decided to temporarily withdraw offering our mortgages to non customers. We will be back offering great rates to everyone as soon as possible. We will continue to progress all existing mortgages requests from new customers."

Oops, partly covered here:

Still think it deserves a thread

people will now be looking at price comparison sites and rushing to the number two on the chart now... and so on and so forth....

hint, if you're looking, start at number 5 or so as they may still have deals and the staff to deal with your application. The snowball effect seems to be occuring....

Wow. Can't say I'm suprised as everyone seemed to be trying to remortgage with them. Crazy.

Makes sense I guess, I just hope they keep the same rates (or better! ;)) when they're back

I called today to discuss remortgaging - they are not taking on any new customers. Only those with a current account with them will be considered for the forseeable.

 Back to the drawing board ...

I recon they will take advantage of this break to increase their rates and make their products less attractive when they are back - after all it's the number of applications that has caused this so they will be looking to reduce demand....??

I'm in the queue for a call back - made an enquiry last Friday, saying that I would like to apply for a mortgage. Does this mean that they won't call back? or does my enquiry count as a mortgage request?

I've just got off the phone to them (after being on hold for 27mins). The girl said that I would be eligible because I'd expressed an interest before the notice went up on their website. With any luck daverave you'll be the same

She basically took me off hold to tell me this and that the department was closing in 3 minutes (22:00), 'sorry you didnt get your (2nd) promised call back tonight, we'll call tomorrow morning around 11ish'

I'm keeping fingers crossed, I spoke to them on Sunday and they said I have a rate reserved until Thursday when I need to confirm it. Not received and paperwork through though yet.
