Bl00dy bank (Coventry)

They bounced 2 DDs at midnight  because there were insufficient funds in the account - are they the only ones that do this?? I thought banks were supposed to wait till close of business incase funds were put in that day.

As it was, my OH was putting in money today, and if they had held off with bouncing the DDs there would've been money there to cover them.

The account above is for our joint bills, I can only take out £250 per day from my own account, so couldn't get all the money in yesterday. Can't even set up a transfer each month as it wouldn't clear in time for the bills to come out.

I did ask them about opening a current account with them but they would not give me a debit card (I do the bulk of my grocery shopping online (we don't have a car so it's the best option for us), so need a card).

It's so unfair!

OH has asked them to refund the charges but they said no - do you think it's worth my calling them this evening to ask again (explaining the fact that I can only take out a certain amount every day) or will I just be :wall:

Our bank (Nationwide) does the same.
DD goes out at midnight, and last month the payment from OH arrived after the mortgage payment went. £30 charged for bouncing the DD  The thought of that happening every month  made me change the pay date.

I didn't get around to arguing with the Nationwide, in the past they have merely written the most patronising letters that I've ever had the misfortune to read.

I'm with Alliance and Leicester and they do the same.

Sounds like I will need to call everyone I have DDs with and see if they'll change the date!
