Leaving fixed rate mortgage 2 months before it ends

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help or share their experiences? I have a 2-year fixed rate mortgage that's coming to an end this July (2008). I've just put my house up for sale because my situation has changed and I'm now looking to rent a place and the sale is set to go through quickly (first time buyer and no chain, etc). However, I will have to pay a £2,000 fee to Northern Rock for leaving early. As I only have two months left and that is a huge amount of money, I was wondering if anyone knew if I could bargain with them to get this reduced?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Maybe but I doubt it, not so close to the end of the fixed deal.
If you do speak to them don't say you are selling, say you want to remortgage.
If you are determined to sell then you will just have to take the hit.
Not sure where you live but you may lose a portion/all of that due to a fall in prices if you wait anyway.
If you have a decent offer then it might be worth taking it for the sake of 2K0 -
Many thanks for taking the time to reply and for the information you've given, it's very much appreciated.
Thanks again.0
