    Housing market and retailers having nothing to do with the MPC which is meant *ahem* to be focussing only on inflation.

    I disagree with you.
    I think retail sales and the housing market have a great deal of input into inflation.
    If people don't spend on the high st then prices go down and it affects inflation.

    I am not saying these are the ONLY factors - far from it.
    They are just 2 I picked out as being significant in my view.
    Another factor is oil prices.

    The BOE consider these factors and more.

    Their TARGET is inflation over the next 2 years, however in order to compile a forecast they consider a number of factors of which house prices and retail sales arejust 2.
