Friends DVD ( Price rise )

I am posting this to enquire for a friend from work.

He has purchased the first three series of Friends and now wants to purchase the next three series before purchasing the last four series in a couple of months time ( to stagger the cost )
He has been buying them at 9.99 from the HMV website. However, I happened to notice this week that Series 7 and 10 are £49.99 each on HMV and they are £39.99 on Play.com. ( I noticed that instore at HMV each and every series was £50 which I found shocking )

Does anyone have any info as to why only certain series have been raised in price ??? Are they likely to go back down again ?

I want to purchase them myself....but I think I'll save up and buy them in one go if I can !!!

Blimey that's odd. It's probably due to popularity and demand, although I think the best bet these days is to get the 1-10 boxset...it IS expensive but compared to buying everything individually, it's the cheaper option. This was the first thing I bought when I came into some money a couple years back..haha!

Found a site where you can get a whole series 7 for £12.89.

And series 10 for under a tenner. http://www.best-dvd-price.co.uk/compare-dvd-price-code-B00064MJAE.html

I think they're in stock as well.

Personally I'm not sure why anybody would need to buy them anyway, given that at least 2 repeats are shown multiple times every day, with four or five at weekends... :o

    Thanks for those links.

I personally would have bought all ten in one go - but then I did read about the box sets being dodgy in that the DVD's were mixed up, episode had been cut short etc !!!

I'll tell my colleague about the links .... thanks.

The repeats get on my nerves. They never show them in order, so you ight catch 2 episodes from series 9 then 2 from series 4.

Anyway, the Friends 1-10 boxset probably went a long way to saving my life last year when I was going through a horrible time in my private life. It played a huge part in getting me through many days...TV shows are powerful things :)

I'm glad it got you through.

Sometimes, when life is grotty its great to just switch something like Friends on and have a laugh.

I think the thing about the episodes being cut short applies to the NEW 1-10 boxset (the red one they brought out recently). The promotion for it implied the DVD discs were all newly designed but they were just the blank double-sided ones as before, and were cut down by a couple of minutes but the one I own is the black boxset with the slide on lid and mine are fine as far as I'm aware. Even so, it's still a great show. You get what you pay for..
