Not many people are aware but most supermarkets will supply 1 or 2 ounces of yeast free if asked as they cannot legally sell it, I know Tesco used too and also Safeway haven't baked lately so not sure how widespread this practice is at the moment.

  • This is a good offer. I always buy Hovis, have tried all the others, but hovis for me is the nicest.

Just checked my last receipt where I purchased both. And the hovis flour is 99p for 2kg, and the yeast was 65p for 6 sachets.

So to get the yeast for free, no guesses to where I am heading today.............

Well mentiioned - All major supermarkets will give you fresh yeast - just go to the bakery counter and ask for it? - much better than the packet stuff.
