I wasn't sure whether to post this here or on the Health & Beauty board, and I'm sure it must have been asked in the past but can't find anything using the search facility.
I am looking for a good, cost-effective brand of normal everyday tights - 10 or 15 denier, matching my skintone.
M&S seem to have stopped selling the 5-packs of individually-wrapped tights with lycra  which I used to buy all the time. These used to be £3.50 IIRC, so 70p a pair. Now all they seem to do is the non-lycra ones, £2.50 for 5 so 50p a pair - I don't care that they are not individually wrapped, but I do care that they don't contain lycra - they always feel loose within a couple of hours of putting them on.
The more expensive M&S ones - that come in packs of 3 and used to be called soft & sheer/soft & shiny/soft & glossy - are still on sale, £4.50 a pack I think? but I have a very fair skintone and they do not do a really light shade in these lines. I do like them, and would buy them regularly if it wasn't for the colour issue. I consider them decent value as they generally last several wearings.
So does anybody have any recommendations for a good value-for-money brand, that come in a pale shade and contain lycra?

I did a quick search online and came across this website:

I thought these ones looked pretty light in colour (and they are lycra):

Looking at other sites I'm shocked by the prices! 10 pounds for one pair of tights "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
Pinkgloss, I looked at the website you suggested and to be honest they all still seemed a bit expensive for everyday wear. If tights at those prices were the only option, I think I'd end up wearing trousers all the time

The reason I'm revisiting this thread is that I have been trying a few different cheap brands and have found one I think is really good, so thought I'd share.
The winner is Tesco Florence & Fred sheer (10denier?) tights, £3.50 for a 3-pack. They are very very good for the price, come in a nice pale shade, the "pant" part holds its shape well and is durable (I accidentally poked a hole in the top part of one pair, and it hasn't laddered at all), and all of the first pack I bought have lasted far more than one wearing. The only thing some people may not like is that if you look very closely they do have a definite "ribbed" look, which you don't get with more expensive ones. But I love them.
They are a bit more expensive than the late lamented multipacks discontinued by M&S, but much better quality.
On the other hand, I have discovered that Boots multipack tights are horrible! They lopok and feel cheap, are quick to ladder and develop holes in the toes, and they DON'T STAY UP...
