in Cutting tax
Hi, I have been reading up on similar stories but am not sure if I understand really what was said.
I started my first job in July 07 and my salary was £13,990 but then went up to £14,270 a few months later, the job was only temporary and finished a week ago.
I was told by a friend that until you earn roughly £5000 a year you don't have to pay any income tax, but I have been paying between £138.30-£143.36 every month.
On my pay slip my tax code is 522L and it says non cumulative next to it.
Does this mean that I am entitled to a refund, if so what do I do, do I write to them or call them.
Any help would be much appreciated.

As it says 'non-cumulative' you have not received the full tax allowance and will be due a refund. Write to them when you get your P60 (end of year tax certificate) - the address will be on it. Or if you have your P45 use that instead.0
