Transport from Dublin to Airport

I am visiting Dublin in a weeks time & wondered the best way to get to & from The Airport to Dublin City Centre. I had a bus service in mind as I dare say that taxis are on the expensive side.

How long does it take to transfer between the city & the airport please in order to allow for check in time. Has security stepped up at Dublin Airport, do I need to allow more time to get there?
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure!

we travelled by aircoach which i think is 7 or 8 euros 1 way or 12 euros return - however you can buy a 3 day rambler ticket which includes the aircoach service - we stayed for 3 days and this worked out cheaper and included the local buses in between. The bus stops are right outside the airport - as is the tourist information desk which help us with our tickets . I did have to prompt them to tell me about the rambler - but they were helpful and saved us money . The tickets are available for 3 5 or 7 days i think and they worked out cheaper than buying the straight forward return aircoach tickets.

I think perhaps Vulcan bomber is meaning transfer from Dublin airport to Dublin city centre. Please correct me on this if I'm wrong.
  • Dublin airport to city centre, get the 747 bus and it costs 5 euros for an all day bus ticket it takes about 10 minutes.

Security coming in is ok but going out is very tight, be prepared to take your shoes of when leaving as everyone has to do it. Definately leave a bit more time when coming back.

    Regards Dale.

Ps Go to temple bar and the guniess factory for a tour and a free pint.

PPS Take lots of money as its very expenisve like all big citys.
  • Thanks for the advice, I'm actually going to visit a relation who is at St Lukes hospital for some treatment.

Wasn't totally sure about the length of time it would take to transfer to the city, 10 Mins seems very quick, think I'll use the 747 service. Is the bus stop outside the terminal building at the Airport?

BTW, would anybody know which would be the best bus to catch to get to St Lukes? I forgot to ask the question in my original post.
