Can I claim back overpaid NICs or not?

in Cutting tax
I think I have overpaid national insurance in the year 07/08 but am not sure a) if I have or b) if I can claim a refund.
Basically for the first 3 months of the tax year I was a student so my contributions have been based on working 12 months when I have in fact only worked 9 months.
In a nutshell, someone who earned the same amount of money as me last year, but over the full 12 months, will have paid £150 less in national insurance contributions.
This was the same for income tax, which I claimed a refund for and this was refunded in my last salary payment, however NICs weren't.
Any help greatly appreciated.

basically tax is a cumulative tax so it doesn't matter how the income is distributed over the year.. its the total over the year that that matters
NI is based on the pay period so weekly or monthly... so no refund as you will have been charged correctly0 -
Hi There, as CLAPTON states NI is deducted within the pay period e.g weekly/monthly so ...... no refund due........sorry!0

I thought this may have been the case, but was hoping otherwise.
Thank you for clearing this up for me though.0
