BR question

Is there any way to get a creditor to petition for my Br instead of me having to fork out the £s since i am in no position to be able to afford the fees.

In a word no. It costs them a lot more and not many do with the exception of HMRC. Stop paying all creditors and if need be put the cost on a cc. OR's do not see this in too bad a light;)

There is a slightly amusing quotation with this one:
You have two Hopes, and one of them is Bob.

It costs creditors silly money to make someone BR, more that it costs you to self petition. Plus there is very little chance of them every recouping that cost and the debt so although they threaten I have never heard it ever carried out. HMRC are the exception to the rule though.

Dalip's suggestions are great. Stop paying your creditors (only if you have been advised by CCCS or Payplan that BR is the best option for you) and use that money to save for the fees (except creditors to start calling again!) or use funds on a credit card. Although technically this isn't really on, OR's do not seem to frown upon this action.

I have to agree. The chances of a creditor doing it are minuscule "except oddly for American Express ).

There are several posters on this forum who have been made bankrupt by a creditor. Most of these where petitioned by HMRC, while the other two I know of were one petitioned by a private individual/creditor with a grudge and one by American Express.

I would second the advice from dalip if that is what you need to do to raise the fees.

I have heard of people using money from credit card/ overdraft/ doorstep loan to pay for fees.

Are you on benefits or are you working?

If you're on certain benefits, you only have to pay part of it.

If not, is there no-one that could lend you the money and you can pay them bank in installments?

It took me 8 months to get the fees together, but it was worth it.
