Relocation- giving up job..benefits?

Hi
Just wondered if anyone knew a quick answer to the following.
My parents are moving house to be closer to myself and family. My dad is retired however my mum still works (good job with the police as civilian). She is unable to get a transfer so will have to start looking for another job. While she is looking will she be entitled to any benefits? Or because she has left her job of her own accord then there is nothing that they can claim. Thanks for any info.

The quick answer is 'it depends'.

It really does depend on a lot of things, but I'd think probably not.

JSA generally isn't available to people who have either left their job voluntarily or been sacked for misconduct (I know your mum hasn't). There are exceptions though (like if the main breadwinner in a household gets a transfer and as a result the spouse has to leave their job) but I don't think any of the exceptins will apply in this case. It's always worth a try though.
:D Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today. :D

If your dad is past retiring age and drawing his pension then he will be able to claim for your mum while she isn't working. 60% of the full pension, I think.
