Post Bankruptcy...how it's going for me

Hello everyone.
1st things 1st, i've now got a new bank account at Barclays, just the basic account, went to a branch near where I live, the day I got my order and took what I needed to, left everything with the personal banker and arranged to go back yesterday. Barclays opened the account and there was no problem, told the lady I was BR,though she already knew this, I have to say she was so helpful, very understanding about my situation and importantly didnt judge me. She told me that the account had been opened and would I like to ring work to give them my new account number and sort code and that why I was on the phone to them she'd go and get me a drink, which she did,1st class servive I thought.
Regarding my creditors i've had about 6/7 phone calls from them and just the 2 of them have been funny about it,if you read my origanal post you'd know what i'm on about. They called again this morning and had yet more fun with them, they really do think their above the law,i'll give you a brief account of what was said....
Them...Why did you go bankrupt?
Me.....Because i'm getting over 2 strokes and you keep hasseling me
Them....But what about accepting responsibilty for the money you owe us?
Me....Who are you, my Mother?
Them...Dont try and be funny with me
Me...wouldn't dream of it as I doubt you have a sense of humour
Them...Now you listen here
Me...No, you listen to me,you keep this threatning behaviour up towards me and I'll just let my OR know what your playing at,you wont dismiss him in the way you think you can me
Them...This call is being recorded you know
Me...excellent, I hope it is and thanks for telling me,sure the OR would like to hear this
Them....We will keep calling you know
Me..Go ahead and keep calling,it's your company that's paying for the call not me
Now it's not bothering me them ringing, just a nuisance to be honest, think i'll let my OR know all about this. To all of you that are thinking of or have gone Bankrupt, dont let them threaten you, they dont like it when you be sarcastic towards them.

Hi Frodo.
I had similar excellent service from Barclays and i've never regretted getting an account with them:T
I can not believe the ar!e that spoke to you. How dare they be so rude to anyone
You do have to consider your own health though so please be careful. Its very easy to get het up about these calls and let them cause you more stress.
Next call, tell them someones just turned up at the door and you'll be right back, put the phone on the side then switch the hoover on or have a copy of something like Timmy Malletts, Itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot- bikini, playing loudly in the background.:DThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
I have a creditors meeting to vote on our IVA proposal on 08/04, but to be honest we are probably gonna petition our own BR - but getting back to creditors ringing or more specifically the debt collection agencies......
some are just diabolical.......I wont name names here, but one particular one based in South Manchester ring and if we are not in the leave a message along the lines of "Hi mate - its Dave here, give us a bell when you can on 0161 ....." needless to say, I havent rung back Dave, Louise, Maureen, Lisa etc etc, but if they do catch you in, then they really are aggressive.
it doesnt bother me, I deal with folk all day in my job, so I know all their tricks, but I can imagine that some naive people being really intimidated.....they said to me once "You cant ignore us - we can send someone round....." - "You will need a court order to get through my door mate, and I have an interim order in place, so guess what..." was my reply......"I am gonna send someone tomorrow now just for that" was the retort...."great, I said....its forecast rain for tomorrow...have a nice evening" - the phone slammed down !!!
You need to sure of your facts, the law and your position, and then you can have some fun with them.........reverse the stress, thats what I say !!!!0 -
NM, I get those, it's probably from the same creditor. They are so thick, they haven't worked out that I live in Essex and the likelyhood of me having all these mates from Manchester is highly remote.
Frodo,
At least you can have fun with them and know they can't touch you now. As the usher at my court said, tell them to sling their hook and ring your OR.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
hi Frodo m8,
Thanks for the update, Glad the accounts sorted out already, good times.
i agree wiht BLTN, please dont get yourself too worked up over the k.nob who keeps ringing you, technically they are doing an offence now by contacting you as i believe they must speak direct to the OR regarding anything to do with the debts.
Next time they ring either do as BLTN says and leave the phone off with loud music etc...or ask to speak to someone in authority at the company, if they refuse just tell them that if they are recording the call as they said they were earlier then tell him it will look bad on their company if they are refusing a customers request to speak to a competent person or something like that.
i do hope they do stop soon for you as your own health is far far more important than irritating little people like that.
Best of luck.

Them....But what about accepting responsibilty for the money you owe us?
YOU (start the tears now) - I owe you money? When? How did this happen? Why didn't you bother to tell me?
(Wailing now) Ooohhhh my god... what am I going to do? Thank you so much for helping me. I really appreciate it.. Woe is me... Where's my wrist... where's that knife....
(At that point you hang up).
DISCLAIMER - Do not play with knives.......0 -
And what I didn't post, was WELL DONE! Its great to see a huge confidence boost here. You go get em'.0

maybe i should have put one in mine: Listening to Timmy Mallet records can seriously damage your sanityThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
Hi Frodo
I can't believe they have spoken to you like that....
Here's an idea. Ring them 10 times on Monday, and tell every g*t that answers your BR number and hang up...
I'm sure they've rang you up to 10 times per day.
One of our creditors rang 12 times one day, starting at 08.30am and even tried to ring from a mobile number to see if we would answer.
Take care MC x0 -
Hi frodo baggins,
We were discharged in August of last year, and our bankruptcy seems a world away now; we have actually been approved for a mortgage, but I'm not keen on the interest rate, so we'll probably give that a miss for now. What I'm getting at is that bankruptcy is an unpleasant experience but it's not really the end of the world; just the begining of a different world.:D
We're both sat in front of the computer reading your Thread, waiting for the grand kids to go to sleep, and it brought back memories of when we were being "harrassed"/"entertained" by continuous phone calls and mountains of post.
I don't know why; I've never really thought about it, but we never took the calls seriously; they're just people doing a pretty lousy job for not much reward. Sometimes I'd chat with them, ask them about the weather, what they thought about the latest sport, political results etcetera; sometimes I'd just turn the cold water tap on and stand the phone near it; other times I'd pass the phone over to the grand kids (MBNA did manage to sell the youngest a credit card   ); ask them if they want a cup of "cyber tea," eventually they conclude, quite rightly, that they're talking to themselves, and give you up as a lost cause.
We could have changed our phone number but that would have spoilt the entertainment.:D
Regards
Richard0
