Coming into money once you've been ED

OH and I got ED after 6 and 5 months. His original BR date was begining of April. Mine May.
We are coming into some money (£6000 odd) next month, I assume it's safe from the OR and anyone else? If it goes into a new joint savings account before either his or my original BR date - since we've got ED.
I didn't get any payment order, OH did but it was only a NTC which was never applied and has only until his original BR date to run anyway so only a week or two now.
And secondly, we went into Abbey to close our sons savings account today - we hate Abbey with a passion and never used the account anyway (went into his Child Trust Fund) but they said they couldn't close it as

Once you are discharges, unless you are on an IPA then your obligations to the OR are finished.
Though one quick question, was this money from a will?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

No tiger, not a will, just a very kind relative letting me have my 'would be' inheritance early.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0

Yep. Ask them if they would kindly wait.Bakeybadoo wrote: »No tiger, not a will, just a very kind relative letting me have my 'would be' inheritance early.
That's OK then. It's yours to keep and none of the OR's business.

What does happen should a relative peg it? I've got a 3rd share of my Grans estate when she goes (hopefuly no time soon though), are you still liable for paying the OR/Trustee's any windfalls after your discharge and on an IPA, or just till your discharged??Life is like a game of Snakes & Ladders, i almost made it to the top but now i'm at the bottom again and its a very long ladder to the top. I had it all and now its gone
Well my 6 years are now up, now to start to rebuild my life again

The OR can claim any windfall that you become "entitled" to while you are undischarged. In the example of a will, you become "entitled" when the person passes away.
After discharge all windfalls that you become entitled to are yours, even if you have an IPA. The only way some of it could be claimed after discharge is if you have an IPA and decide to live off the windfall, so effectively using it to replace all or part of your income.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
