You could get some wooden roses and some artificial baby's breath and use it to create cake toppers. It is surprisingly easy to do, I've done all my own flowers, including bouquets, buttonholes and table centrepieces.
Bear in mind, you'll have lots of time to practice till you're happy with them. With real flowers, there's more pressure to get it right on the night, as it were!
Look on ebay for styles you like and then replicate them. I bought 800 roses in three different colours for £50 and I've got loads left over. If you do decide to do this you will need the following items:
wooden roses (ebay)
baby's breath or stems of pearls (hobbycraft)
floral wire , you may be able to use the baby's breath instead, as it is wired(ebay)0 -
hi there, i had a m&s cake also and decorated it myself, we had flowers on the top, you can buy iced ones in a boquet style from cake shops. i got mine from a company called icingworld in birmingham (there suprisingly cheap)
my friend then iced around the edge of the top layer with the words 'to have and to hold', the next with 'to love and to cherish', and forever and ever around the bottom one.
hope this helps0 -
It depends what look she wants. As has been mentioned above you can buy ready made decorations from specialist cake shops / sites / hobbycraft etc. Also take a look around the sweetie aisle in the supermarket, things like love hearts can look great just stuck on with a bit of royal icing.
Also think about fresh flowers, these can be tied in with the bouquets etc and florists can provide them also if she's not confident. For simplicity a cala lily on top looks fantastic0
