Help - Which loan companies do not use Equifax?
I have a friend who's Experian credit file is in a much better state than their Equifax one. He wants to apply for a loan and I wondered if there were lenders that only check Experian?
From my own accounts, I know that some report to both agencies and some only report to others about existing accounts but when you apply for a new loan, would they check both? This could probably best be answered by people who have applied for loans in the last 12 months. Any comments appreciated.
Also particularly interested in people who have applied for loans or credit with HSBC and First Direct in the last 12 months who have not had accounts with them before. Have these banks actually done a search on you? (I know recently HSBC announced that anyone who has opened accounts since around 2002 will have this information reflected in their credit file - although this does not currently apply to First Direct)

I was on the phone to Alliance & Leicester yesterday and asked them this question - they use Experian.
FYI they have discontinued the deferred payment car loan payment last March. Which is a shame because it was around 5.9%!!0
