For Happy Chris & anyone else who uses NTL as their ISP

if you are having trouble with the Sainsbury's site being slow, it is a problem that both NTL and Sainsbury's are aware of (yet have done nothing about!)

You have to ring NTL technical help who will give instructions to change some settings on your PC (LAN settings I think, I'm not very technical), & you should find things improve dramatically.

I was having the same problem last year until someone told me about this. I rang NTL & they knew exactly what I was talking about. I can't understand why neither NTL or Sainsbury's make any mention of it on their websites, as it clearly is a significant problem to NTL users.

I had this very same problem. I rang Sainsburys and they gave me the LAN settings to put on my pc. Click "Start", "Control Panel", "Internet Options", Click the "Connections" tab, click LAN settings, tick the box for using a proxy server and enter the code in the two boxes. Click ok and ok again. For the birmingham area my address code is 62.253.64.7 and port is 8080.

Why Sainsburys and Ntl can't sort this out though is beyond me! I don't have problems on any other sites like this!

  • Thanks for this,
Just used Sainsbury's to you for the first time. I used the £10 off first shop voucher, plus my staff discount and I only paid £4.40 (including delivery) for shopping worth £10.99!!!!
I love it when I get one over on my (soon to be ex-) employer. :):D ;D
It's not how much you earn..... It's what you do with it.....
  • as a soon to be ex employee - would you care to share the code for staff discounts????

    cheeky...i know...
