Alliance & Leicester old tricks?

I had a similar experience with A&L yesterday. A salesman whose persistence bordered on rudeness trying to persuade me to take out this cover long after I'd made it clear that I wasn't interested.
I actually quoted this website as one of the reasons I didn't want the loan cover. To which his response was to enquire why I would believe "some bloke off the internet" over him. He claimed that A&L cover was different from other banks and said that, if MSE was to investigate it properly, they could confirm that the A&L cover was a good buy and not like the other banks' cover.
Anyway, after lengthy discussions, he finally said that the loan was approved and put the paperwork in the post. Imagine my pleasure when I showed the finance figures to the Ford dealer I'm buying a car from and he was able to beat the A&L quote. :rotfl:
So I won't be needing your loan after all A&L.
I'm sure other people may be aware, but second hand car market is up the creek at the moment and looks like dealers will do all they can to match loan deals and make some money that way. So worth asking what they can do after you have your quote from the bank.0
