Liverpool budget weddings

We are getting married in Liverpool, hopefully within the next 12 months though we haven't officially set a date yet (want a winter wedding - thinking late November, doubt that's all booked up everywhere!) and I don't even know where to start with venues! We're on a pretty tight budget, from the information I find online our budget hardly covers the cost of catering at most of the places that are willing to advertise pricings online! I have no clue what venues to even consider. My DF is the Scouser, not me and he hasn't much idea either :rotfl:everyone we know who has been married recently/is getting married has had about three or four times the budget we do and have gone for the big fancy hotel approach to weddings.
Anyone married in Liverpool and got hints/ideas for venues? Budget dresses/stationery/decoration I can manage with all the hints I've found on here and elsewhere
I'm still trying to get over the fact that the registry office costs £320 and from online pictures isn't the prettiest venue I've ever seen  if it was up to me though it would be a quiet and secret affair, the party is for family who would kill us if we ran off and did it in secret!
Thank you!
oh and we're already getting in top of selling on ebay to get funds together

everthing else http://www.thebestof.co.uk/liverpool-central/43/1/quicklinks.aspx
you could just have the ceremony at one of the above venues and reception somewhere less expensive
if you want to do the catering on the cheap and the family will help out, there is a big costco which sells a lot of catering size stuff suitable for a very good buffet. there are also a lot of smaller halls and social clubs about which let you do your own catering and have a less formal atmosphere.
most restaurants will do receptions, there is also a great chinatown!:hello: :j0 -
Hey Lambanana, congrats on your future wedding  . We are getting married in Liverpool this November, at Bootle Town Hall, which has a lovely council chamber where they have the ceremony, and two quite nice ballrooms where you can have a reception and the prices aren't bad - but they have a contract with a caterer that you have to use, but he has been great. You can also bring your own wine with corkage of £3 for normal wine and £4 for champagne (will be doing a booze run to France!).
We are using a photographer called David Jones, who is really reaonable (£650 which may be out of your budget but is not bad - will try and find website). I have just found this list of photograpers one of which's prices start at £150 so might be worth a look: http://www.ourweddingmemories.co.uk/files/search_result.php?type_listing=NorthWest
For another cheap reception place, where you can use your own caterers, there is a place called the Sylverstrian, just outside the city centre - try an internet search.
For your flowers, there is a wholesale fruit and flower market: http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Leisure_and_culture/Markets/wholesalemarket/index.asp I haven't been yet, but intending to get my flowers there.
Got my little girls bridesmaids dresses off Ebay - for less than £70 for the two and they are great.
Planning on contacting local taxi companies (Blueline) to see if they have any nice cars they could offer as wedding cars, as I am not bothered about them...
If I think of anything else, I will post again - good luck!
