xmas pressie ideas for 14 year old lad

Could anyone with a lad this age let me know what sort of things they are into. Have to buy xmas presie for my nephew and as I don't see him very often, I have no idea what sort of thing he would like.

Behave! I'm sorry, but not all 14 year old boys want a 14 year old girl for Christmas in any sense of the words. Mine wouldn't even run: assuming he noticed her he'd just ignore her and walk away, back to the computer.

Mind you, unless he was fresh out of the shower she'd probably have backed off even faster than him! ;D

That's a good question. And have you asked his parents? Let's hope they're more help than I am: I have no idea what the 14 or the 17 year old want in an affordable price range, and so far, nor do they.

I would run any helpful suggestions past his parents: we may have fantastic ideas but if he's already got LoTR, The Matrix x 3, and whatever game my son is currently obsessing about, it gets tricky.

Alrighty.

I, being a 17 Year Old guy, may be able to give you a few pointers.

Now, teenagers these days are mostly into electronics and gadgetery. With this in mind, try browsing to Firebox.com or IWantOneofthose.com.

These two websites contain items which are rather cool and also pretty cheap. There is also an option to show only items under £10, £20 etc. This will help you not just jump at a £50 item when you see it, if there's something better for under £10.

To be honest, I don't like the idea of vouchers. Sure, the money is given and you can spend it how you like, however, you usually find the store you get the voucher from tends to be not the one you wanted. (You can buy vouchers from Firebox and IWantOneOfThose.com, these are actually pretty cool, however, keep in mind that the postage from these sites is about £4, which would probably be deducted from your gift voucher if bought.)

So, 14 is that age that nothing really important happens. 16, I suppose, is the milestone, where you can begin your driving tests etc. Perhaps, this is a long shot as your nephew may not be interested in getting his liscence or not, you could give him a voucher for his first few or his first driving lesson when he gets his Provisional liscence.

Although this doesn't cost alot, it would give him a 'target' so to speak, and it's pretty nifty too.

Thanks for the suggestions, especially Niles, its true about the vouchers - whenever I've sent them before they are never for the right shop ???.
Unfortunaely his mum, my sister is no help as she says anything will do - which I am sure he wouldn't agree with ;D

oops got me one of these and I'm afraid in my sons case a 14yr old girl would be right up his street!
but none the less I agree it's a really hard age to buy for, niles suggestions are good my son loves all those gadgets I don't understand!
does he have any hobbies/clubs he goes to? my lad has started to go to boxing and fire cadet training and is suddenly into keeping fit and requested all manner of gym equipment.

Yes, but the problem MSEs have in giving money is that it is virtually impossible to get a bargain. And because you don't want to look like a tightwad you end up giving more money than you'd want to spend (or could get away with spending). My Mum was really chuffed that she'd managed to find a book to give someone for just £2.99, now they don't know that's all she spent, it looks like something far classier than that. You just can't do that with a £5 note, it will never look like more than a £5 note!
