Urgent Advice Needed Please

I have been struggling with finances/debts for about 2 yrs......i know these are my own fault, i set up a debt management plan with payplan in february, i pay them £256 a month which is distributed between my creditors, i have today had a phoncall from first credit who have told me that citi cards have sold the debt to them and they will not accept the 28.14 payplan are paying and want either paymeny in full, £72.00 a month or will take legal action which could involve baliffs removing goods......would i be better going bankrupt?.....i have rang payplan but all lines are busy.

tell them that if they have a problem with the amount you are paying to take it up with payplan. thats what they do

and dont worry about the threat to bailiffs, thats usually the very last resort
Aiming to pay off £50,312.94 in less than 3 years - Starting from December 2015
Current debt total: £32,756.02 (as of 1st March 2018)
Date Free Date Aim: Summer 2019 (8 extra months needed :( )
  • As weebit has said, contact Payplan regarding this. They are bound to try it on and see if they can retrieve more money from you, but if this is all you can afford to pay, then they can't have anymore so stick to your guns.

Payplan will help you with this :)

most people on a dmp have had this happen so dont let it worry you. just talk to payplan as soon as you can and tell them whats happened. if you get phone calls just say you are with payplan and put the phone down. It seems that dmps with reputable charities/companies like CCCS and payplan are almost always accepted. the letters/calls trying to get more out of you and threatening all sorts if you dont are usually just scaremongering tactics.Payplan will advise you and reassure you.

They don’t have the power to send bailiffs. Sounds like they are just trying to scare you into paying more!

Stick to your guns and don’t let them have anymore as the way Payplan would have worked out the payments is fair to all your creditors and more importantly an amount you can afford to pay.

If you feel that the calls are getting too much. Put a letter together asking that they remove your number from there systems.

    Hi Skibadee,

Try not to worry! You have made one of the best steps possible by going onto a DMP - this shows that you are dealing with your situation.Your DMP has only been running for a couple of months and generally it takes a couple for the creditors to settle down as i'm sure many people on a DMP will confirm. Have you been on the DMP suport thread? It might be woth asking what other peoples experiences were like and how they find the creditors now - i'm sure they will all reassure you.
