Hello Johnny(cant help directly with your question but i did sell a few cars via e bay a few years back and looked into the option of building it up)
I think your brother really has to move forward quickly on this by ..
1)getting in touch with business debt line
2)getting his tax return moving to avoid his current position escalating to include tax evasion
3)He also needs to check out the position of trading e bay for the sums mentioned as his limited company may not be enough to cover him and he may require a sole trader /motor trade status on this
4)obviously he will have withdrawn e bay funds via his bank account so he will have to be up front
I appreciate what you say about him not wanting to dig a deeper hole but hes doing that now on the tax front.......He really needs to phone specialists on this one to get clear guidance
best of luck to you and your brother
Hi Persolvo and all the other posters.
Sorry if i seem thick but how would the limited company have anything to do with this??
When he set it up with companies house it asks for nature of business. I think he described it as mortgage/financial introducer.
It mentions nothing about selling cars and don't see why the 2 should be linked.
Re the tax evasion, could he not just play dumbSay that he knew obviously that tax would be liable from this self employment but due to trying to look after the ltd company didnt have time to fill out return etc. He maight only get a surcharge this way... And again, wouldnt this and any tax due be wiped off with BR.
Ditto re the business debt helpline, could they help with this when it is from self employment?? He was his own boss, working off his own steam under no ltd/plc company and through his personal bank.
Thanks again to everyone, your help is appreciated.0 -

Hi Johnny
What i was getting at Johnny was that yes I agree that the ltd company had nothing to do with the e bay car sales ...selling cars on e bay is no different than selling them from a pitch as far as trading licences go......i think it would be a good idea when hes talking to an advisor to check the position as far as selling without the correct licences.(He may already have them it was just one thought i had)
Honestly not trying to add to his woes just wanted to make sure he covers that angle as well so he can clear this all up and move on
good luck to you and your brother
Ps..Ive got all the old trading material somewhere if its an help i could try to find and post here if it helps at all??0
