Good Job but what now?!

I was going to put "can anyone recommend a good book..." in the title but I figured that nobody would then actually read my post! The truth is that I am after a book... sorry!
I'm looking for a fairly meaty book on personal finance that I can use to try to figure out what to do with my money now that I've got my first "proper" job!
I'm particularly interested in pensions (just got one, don't know if it's any good, don't know if I've done the right thing or what to do next) and investing (nothing at the moment, want to do something a bit more daring than my current cash isa!). Or am I meant to start trying to pay off my mortgage early now? I have no idea - hence book.
I've been looking at this one, but only because it's the first thing I liked the look of that came up on amazon when I searched for "Personal Finance"!
Thanks in advance for any help. (Any non-book related tips also more than welcome!)

That book looks like a student manual, and hence expensive, and also probably quite dry.
You can learn a lot about pensions just by reading threads on here, asking specific questions, reading articles online, etc. Here's a starting point, a government guide to pensions http://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/pdf/ptb1/ptb1feb08.pdf
Can't help you with the books I'm afraid.
There's a lot to learn....0 -

Hi JennyB
Merryn Somerset Webb has written a smashing one called ' a smart womans guide to making and keeping money...love is not enough'.
I know it sounds basic (and a bit naff!) but she really talks sense and she is the editor for 'Money week' magazine so she knows her stuff. She also writes a great column in the sunday times. Really good chapters on pensions and investing.
