Wonderful stuff, Ben! I just have a vision of shoeless urchins trailing through the checkouts carrying tins of pineapple chunks to ward off scurvy, then clamouring for their gift cards.

Just to dispel this image I may have gained of a pineapple monster, I would point out that I am a regular Asda shopper and always have my gift card handy. I get the £2 and the refund credited on the same card each time I am overcharged, and usually have about £50 to spend on wine at Christmas. Asda have improved their pricing of late. The irony is that I am at least partly responsible for this!

As for Tesco, I can't stand the place really. I just go there to take advantage of their policies. I would never do my main shopping there.
  • Had some meat from Asda before that was off when opened, Still indate by a good couple of days.
Took it back and was given a refund for the £7 and told to get some more meet for the £7 for free.

    Well worth taking back.

  • Wow!! I never knew about this policy about giving £2 refund on savings card for over charging but as Im on my way to filling my third card guess who is going to be scrutinising their receipts in future!! :D
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60
  • Blimey if my nan was still alive she would have bought trolley's of pineapple chunks - she was addicted to them. She'd go through one large tin every single day.....

I personally steer well clear of Asda meat as I have found it to be very dodgy if not eaten the same day and definately would not purchase reduced meat from Asda.

A couple of weeks ago, the checkout operator weighed some apples that I had selected, and had trouble with the scales. Then he thought he'd get clever and type in a code (how that equates to the actual weight I don't know). Anyway, he tapped away and chose the most suitable code, I noticed that the price came up as 6 X £1.28 or something similar, he looked at the price, shrugged his shoulders and continued.

Off to CS and await my refund and £2 on a loyalty Card - can't believe he let it go without asking a superviser, although I'm glad he did.

In the past I used to point out any mistakes to the checkout staff, but now I just smile and look at the queue at CS.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I buy my meat from the award winning local butcher, not from supermarket. Maybe a tad more expensive but better quality, tastes better, doesn't go off within a day unlike some supermarkets.
