bank account

Can anyone tell me where I can get a bank account from with a debit card (to use at petrol stations on ebay etc..) after IVA. I am currently with barclays but suspect that will change soon. I was hoping to open one up online - is that possible??

Coop or Barclays do bank accounts for bankrupts so they'd do one for someone on an IVA, Coop, I think, are the only ones (for BR's) that will give you a "debit" card... Electron only though! Barclays just give you a cash card!

Motherhen is Barcleys one of your creditors?

If not your account should not be effected as long as you do not have overdraft, I had an acccount with Halifax with Electron card that I started to use after IVA as they were not a creditor and no problem.

My sister has a lloyds basic account it has a full Visa debit card , which can be used to withdraw cash only from lloyds machines, no cheque book no overdraft but online banking DD etc.
It says on the list above that no debit card but that is now incorrect.

Could well be. The FSA only update that table once every quarter it seems.

EDIT: Just checked and you now get:
    • Use your Cash account debit card to withdraw money from any Lloyds TSB Cashpoint® machine and Post Office branch as well as making payments in shops and for cashback.
    • One of the biggest banking networks in the UK with over 2,100 branches.
    • you can call PhoneBank* on and speak to our advisors or use our quick automated service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
    • the speed and control of Internet banking, if you are registered.
    • Regular statements.
    • Access to Scottish Widows pensions and investments.
    Internet banking features:
    • check and search your balances and statements,
    • sign up for free text alerts,
    • pay bills, transfer money, set up standing orders and more.
    The Cash account doesn’t include:
    • overdrafts and loans,
    • cheque books,
    • withdrawals from any non-Lloyds TSB cash machine,
    • credit interest.
Looks pretty good, apart from only being able to use Lloyds TSB cash machines.
