ISP / Broadband and allowable expenses

We pay a fixed fee for broadband which is mainly used by my husband in his capacity as a self employed web designer. Since it's the same price no matter how often we use the service for non-business, does it follow that we can claim 100% as an allowable expense or should I just put down a percentage? (Probably 25 % personal use to be on the safe side)

TIA

Anneliese

  • Hi Anneliese

You need to work out the percentage work:non-work and put that amount down as an expense. you should also do this for your phone line rental, and if your DH works from home, do it for heating and light too. Obviously these are going to be estimates - unless you log every minute of use over a year.......:) but none will be a large expense in the general scheme of things.

    Hope that helps

    Linda
