Tax Rebate Question

Hi all

I am due a tax rebate in April ... I have already filld in all the forms and sent them back. Just curious does anyone know roughly when in april we are likley to get our money back .. will it be start , middle or end of the month ... I already have plans for the money so really want to know when I will have it to spend it LOL :j

You are completely at the mercy of the HMRC processing office. If it's a code number you need for 2007/08 the refund may be in your final wage packet of the tax year - unlikely if you have not yet had a P2 Notice of Code.

What forms did you complete?

A P50 along with my P45 .... i am now a student , gave up work end of August 2007

Any refund due from a P50 application should be dealt with as priority (or at least it was in my old office) and there is no need for HMRC to hold off until April.

Did you sign on for job seekers allowance at any point? HMRC could be attempting to obtain details of the JSA if you didn't hand in your P45 to the Job Centre at the time.
Phone and ask about the delay.

At the moment in some offices it is taking upwards of 6 weeks from receipt of post for it to be actioned.

2 months and counting! £250 refund for a CITR account and, sent separately, an amend to an 08-09 code (no initial P2 either). And that's a PD district which is alleged to be on top of things? Obviously just 'on top of' a big pile at the moment.

It can't just be me ... but most customer facing organisations I deal with (public and private) seem to have gone significantly downhill in the last few years. Not sure if that's despite, or because of, the big leaps in technology!

I got a form back about 2 weeks asking me to confirm what I was doing e.g when I was working etc from September 07 to April (now)... thats because I had left my old job , gone back to uni, then worked part time from November 07 - xmas eve at my old job ... so now I have sent that back I am just waiting everyday for the postman to bring me my cheque....

I am hoping that it will arrive this month....
