reissuing old building society cheque

Hi i have just found an old (1985) Nationwide cheque addressed to me. Think it was for some shares I had with them. When I questioned them about it they said it was too old.
Is there a way i can get them to reissue it.

Write and ask them? Largely depends on whether they still have the data to conclude the original was never presented. After 23 years ... no guarantee, I suspect.
