Statutory demand for £284?

Hello everyone.

Can someone advise on what to do with a SD for £284?

I don;t deny the debt, it was only passed to a DCA a week ago and now i have received an SD. The original debt was for £219 with an £15 admin fee and solicitors costs of £50.

I have no problem in paying this back but didn't think an SD could be issued for this amount. The SD has come from Northampton Courts.

Many thanks

    Hi May,

Is this definitely a Statutory Demand? To issue a Statutory Demand your debt has to exceed £750. Northampton County Court is the bulk centre for County Count Judgments. The way to check is: there should be a code in the bottom left hand corner of the forms. If they are County Court Claim forms it will have N1.

    Hi May,

The document that you have recieved is a County Court Judgement (CCJ) and not a Statutory Demand.

If you are admitting to the claim, the you need to fill in the admission form (N9A) within 14 days of recieving the documents and send it back to the given the address. You have the opportunity of offering payment back in installments based on your income and expenditure, or you can pay the debt off in full if you can afford to do so.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi there.

Thanks for the advice. I thought ccj came after the SD.

I shall contact the company and take it from there. Thanks again
