Sony XDRS50 - Portable DAB Radio - Black

Amazon have this model at £29 and the XDRS55 at over £40. From the descriptions they seem identical - does anyone know if there is a difference please? (Sony website doesn't help!).

Also, and crucially to me, I need to know whether a mains power lead comes included.

looks like just a newer model; cannot see any important difference. The 50 can be mains powered.

main minus factor seems to be the tinny performance from the speaker (v small radio so v small speaker!!) - better to use headphones.

For £30 odd, I'd say a better buy quality wise would be the Pure Elan here:

Thanks for the replies. I subsequently found out that the Sony 50 is DAB only whereas the 55 is updated with FM as well.

I went ahead and ordered the 50 before I saw your comments but after being assured by Amazon that it does include mains lead. Due for delivery early this coming week so we'll see! (Speaker aspect not too significant for me as I only want it for bedside listening). Thanks again.

Received the Sony 50 today from Amazon with mains adaptor as promised. Sound quality is fine for bedside listening to speech stations. The 10 presets are easy to access. A real bargain at £29.99 for this DAB only radio.
