I have a loan but it is fraudulent

Hiya
I am in a dilema, last year a short while after we lost our 25 yr old son in an accident, we were short of money, I applied for a loan and signed my wife's name (wrong big time I know) at the time god only knows what I was thinking, the other day we got a letter, she opened it, and rang them and then said she knew nothing about it to them, but I had aleady told the wife about it, and we agreed to raise the mortgage to pay it off, she then realised what she had done, we had already asked for a settlement figure, question is will they simply be happy to get their money back, or will they take it furtherm surely the wife will have to put soemthing in writing, or can they take it further from one phone call from someone who if they had the details could be anybody!
Advice please I and my wife are really worried I;ll wnd in inside.

they will be happy to get their money back but if they ask then she can just say she was a little confused and everything is OK

Thanks for the info, should she ring them back and say she made a mistake, or let it run? I don't want the law knocking at the door to arrest me!
I am not sure how long they allow for a settlement to be paid over, but the remortgage will take 4 weeks.
I have to change the DD in the meantime, so if I get her to ring, that may confuse them :-) as it will be from an a/c in both our names.
the other worry is, if they tell the credit ref lot they suspect an iffy loan, this would block the remortage! even tho there is more than enough in the house value to cover it
  • I agree with Clapton - just saying she was confused will be just fine. All they're concerned about is getting the loan repaid in full.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your son...
  • hi there dont worry we got a loan from abbey 4 years age and my oh said to me a month ago when someone phoned about it 'do we have a loan ' er yes we do and he signed it himself do not worry you just feel guilty. When you get the mortgage to pay it off you will forget about it.

I understand your worries but seriously when they recieve the cheque to repay it nothing will be checked. It's not worth mentioning to them in the circumstances.
