Loft insulation

On account of my huge heating bill I've been thinking about improving my loft insulation. There is some up there already but I think it's pretty old and I'm guessing we need some more (or to replace it). I don't want to do it myself since the attic has a floor down and I don't want to get into the whole taking it up and putting it back down thing. Can anyone suggest a company who might do this? Or is it the kind of thing that I should buy the (half price!) insulation rolls at B&Q and get a handyman to do? If so does anyone know a good handyman?
Any advice welcomed....

Do you claim any benefits or have children? You may be able to get it done for free0

fraid not. I've been checking NIE who do grants for everyone apparently but couldn't find proper info on the net and their phonelines are closed today...thanks for the thought ....0

Cavity wall insulation might also be an option if not already done. If you have 4 inches of insulation between rafters you would probably need the same again on top. I would buy the insulation myself and get someone to fit.
good luck:D0 -
Any idea what you might do for insulation if you have solid walls - as far as I can make out ours aren't cavity....0

You can get a grant of up to £150 for loft insulation, check here. You don't need to be on benefits, AFAIK - I'm hopefully getting £150 back on cavity wall insulation soon, all being well (£400 for installation - house keeps its heat better)
