Dental Advice - All Ceramic vs PFM Crown?
Comments
-
The sharp pains have now gone (and I've had the bite fixed on Tues, it feels miles better now) - but I'm getting random toothache now. It's woken me up a couple of times, and seems to come on after eating - luckily painkillers work well on it.
Do you think it's likely I'll need a root canal, or is it too early to say? I'm going back for the final crown fit on Wed, so I really hope it improves by then.0 -
The final crown has been fitted now, but I'm still getting this toothache. The dentist seemed to think this was still nothing to worry about - but it's enough to wake me up in the night.
I can deal with the pain for a while longer to see if it goes, as painkillers work well when it flares up - I'm just worried it will get worse when I'm on holiday in June for a couple of weeks.0 -
By June it should either be perfectly OK, or it will have shown itself up as a real problem.
I must say it doesn't sound brilliant, but go with your dentist's advice so long as it gradually seems to be settling.
If it takes a turn for the worst - then get straight back. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks for the advice toothsmith, it's a massive relief to know that I should know either way by June

Will they be able to drill through my all ceramic crown (Procera I think) to do a RCT if needed?0 -
I went back today as the pain still persists, but the dentist thinks it could be ligament bruising. I'll give it a couple more weeks and see if the pain goes, as I'm looking forward to eating crunchy stuff again
