Have I got a CCJ??

Hello!
Don't really know anything about this sort of thing, so hopefully someone can set me straight...
About 7 years ago (when I was about 18/19) I stupidly got caught on a train without a ticket, and the train company decided to take me to court. In the end the court sent me a letter, and I had to pay them about a hundred quid (for a £2 ticket!). Is that a County Court Judgement (CCJ)?
Cheers

Yes it is. However, it will not affect your credit history as it is discharged. CCJ's in a credit sense are only those judgments which remain undischarged after the period of time for payment.0

Thanks, that's just the info I was looking for!0

It sound to me more like it was a compensation payment to the train company which the court decided on.
I wouldn't of thought it would be a CCJ?

Yes it would if it was as a result of a county court judgment which is not satisfied.0

hmmm, now I'm more confused! Not helped by the fafct that I don't actually know what a CCJ is - other than what the letters stand for!0

Could you have a look at your credit record, by signing up to Experian or the other lot (fading memory!) - quick way of finding out! I'm sure there is a link to how to do this somewhere on this site, or you can go through Pigsback and get £8 for the pleasure of finding out... http://www.pigsback.com/pages/4/7/380.aspx?pbq=697%2c492957711%2cVOVSR (You will have to register for pigsback first, if not already a member).Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

All claims dealt with in the County Court and which are not settled will result in a judgment. However, the judgment will only get added to the Register of County Court judgments if it is not paid within (I think) 28 days. Even after that time if it is paid you can apply to have the CCJ removed although I seem to recall that the claimant is required to consent.
It is the Register of CCJ's that appears on the credit report - not the CCJ which has been satisfied.
If you think about it, large companies would have terrible credit histories given the amount of litigation they get into. It would also be against the public interest if you defended a claim in good faith, lost and then had adverse credit history.0
