help

i used uswitch to change my line rental and call package on the 22/3/08 and since yesterday 24/3/08 ive been trying to cancel it as it would affect my broadband service and id have money to pay to my current provider i was goung to switch to first telecom from toucan but have found out that i have to keep my current provider as i may lose my new broadband supply as o2 wont allow any change to there equipment at my exchange ,i phoned first telecom and they havnt received the order yet and told me to cancel with uswitch or as when they receive the order its a contract with them and if i cancel id be liable for charges , i phoned uswitch customer service today and was told the person i was talking to wasnt able to help and that the person sitting next to them was the one i needed to talk to and they would phone me back which they have not my question is does my umpteen emails canceling and phone messages count as a cancellation ,thanks for any help ..update ..after 2 and a half hours on hold i finally got through and have been told that its in cancellation and should be canceled tomorrow and that i wont receive any notice when its done so ill just have to phone the company that i would of changed to to make sure its not gone through this company is first telecom who were very helpful even though i wasnt on there system they would keep an eye out for me ,now thats customer service for you.....UPDATE after after being assured that it was canceled quess what NO it was not the very next day i received email from first telecom saying welcome..so i phoned first direct who promptly canceled it and sent an email to confirm this ,after advice from consumer direct i sent a recorded delivery letter asking them to stop any further use of my details which im hoping they do ,so after hours on hold just to speak to someone the completely ignored me and lied to boot ,im now waiting to hear if this is a breach of the data protection act .i still cant believe that i spent 2 and half hours on hold just to be lied to ,disgraceful way to treat people .
