Hi Hj_uk
As others have said- it is perfectly legal to open a new bank account- just tell them you are now bankrupt.
I openned a basic ( cashminder ) with the Coop before I went bankrupt, telling them what I was planning on doing- they were fine.
Ring either Coop or Barclays and get an account open asap to get your salary paid in. I found the Coop in particular very helpful- as soon as I mentioned openning a basic account the guy asked me if I was in "financial difficulties"( erm...you could say that...)- when bankruptcy was mentioned he was absolutely fine.
Cancel any DDs and SOs asap- if they do go out/get bounced etc you may be liable for any bank charges you incurr, as this would be a post bankruptcy debt. Cancel everything and get on the phone to arrange a new account asap.0
