Fees again!!

Ok I still havn't got a great deal saved towards these £500 fees that I need. I now owe the council £175 from last years council tax, I have heard that as its last years I can include this in my bankruptcy. Is that right???
Good news is I finally have offical custody of my 3 year old son, although I have been paying for him and getting no benifits since January my ex wife has finally decided to sign offical custody and benifit over to me. Having looked on "entitledto" I will now receive "child tax credit" as a single parent. Am i correct in thinking that if I receive this then I will get the £300 court fee wavied?? If this is the case I may aswell hold out until it comes through to save myself the pain of trying to find the £300. Also its been over 6 months since my creditors received even a token payment and I still don't have a CCJ and in all fairness they probably only phone me once a month!! So even if it takes me 6 weeks now to declare bankruptcy, they will have miss the boat won't they??

Hi,
Great news about your son:j
The court fee was £150 at my court.(and may get waivered if you are on low income) The fee for OR is £335 i believe you have to pay this.
Hope this helps a little.
Take Care

Council tax arrears up to the date of bankruptcy is included in the BR.
Here we go.

Fees exemptions here
it's the form for the remission of the court fees of £150...you would still have to pay the £335 OR fee as there are NO exemptions from this no matter what your circumstances

oh well. Good and bad news.. £150 is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.. And the council tax is brillant news... Is there a sting in the tail maybe were you can no longer pay c.tax monthly after you have declared some of it in bankruptcy????0

You wont get a waiver just because of getting child benefit. There are other benefits or on a low income - you'll have to work it out using the guidelines on the above post.
Don't worry about your creditors at this stage. If you do get court forms for a CCJ then just defend them stating you are planning on going BR. They may or may not stop the action. But if the worts happens and you get a CCJ, it is included in BR anyway - so you do not continue to pay a CCJ once BR. Its also doubtful that your creditors will get their act together so quickly anyway (but you never know)!
Congratulations on sorting things out with your child! I speak from experience when I know how heartbreaking these cases can be. You have to be the one to claim Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit (different claims) no-one else can do this, and your ex-wife does not "transfer" this. You must make a new claim. Depending on your income and status, you may also be able to get housing/council tax benefit.
Best of luck!0
