finding accommodation on mass?

Hello, I'm organising a party in July for Post Pals (www.postpals.co.uk) people are coming from all over the country so need somewhere to stay, does anyone have any recommendations on how best to find a cheep local place to stay? The best I can find is £70 (Travellodge), they do do group bookings but don't have the details on the website, as its an event for volunteers and families with a seriously ill child do you think anyone might be more likely to give us a disscount?

We've done a similar meet-up using a Youth Hostel which worked really well. We hired the whole hostel on one occasion and a separate annex another time. The staff were very accommodating about our health problems and special dietary needs.
