Licensing a product???

Hi,
I hope I am posting on the right thread.
I have an idea for a product that I designed with one company in mind. I would like to show my product to this company however I am really worried that they might steal my product and use it. I don't think it is the sort of product I could patent as it isn't an invention.
Sorry to be so vague but any advice would be gratefully received
Thanks

well you are automatically covered by copyright on your idea see copyright laws for more info.
If you belive your idea is unique you could apply for a patent maybe? then it cannot be stole legally.0 -
apart from registering your idea you must get the company you are showing to sign a NDA (Non disclosure agreement)0

Thank you very much. I'll look into that and keep my fingers crossed.......... if not back to the drawing board!!!0

also depending on what the design is you could also post a letter to yourself containing your design. The post mark will act as proof that you designed the product first. Important not to open the envelope though!!
If it is a design, you can register it. Better to get it registered rather than rely on design rights. It is not that costly to do.
If you are in Scotland you could approach the IA Centre who offer free consultation and advice from a group of IA (Intellectual Assets) experts.0 -
Thank you very much. x0
