IPA - How long to set up

Hi All,
Roughly how long after the first contact with the OR does it take to commence the IPA?
My court date is not until April 9th so i presume the OR will be in touch shortly afterwards
I can retire in less than three years so a three year IPA may mean me working for a few extra months, as long as it starts pretty quickly. I presume they are up and running quite soon? I don't want to have to work for an extra year...
Thanks

In the beginning, there was nothing.

There was still nothing, but you could see it.

Hi bald runner
,
Not quite sure how long it takes for them to set one up, I may be eligible for one when (if!) I start work, but, I personally doubt they would ask you to work past the point of retirement though, I may be wrong but that would be harsh.
Did your OR say you would be having an IPA, as they should sent you out a form I believe to enter your latest I&E?
Unfortunately not got much more on IPA, but thought I'd answer as it's gone a bit quiet on the old board...:)
edit: understand now with court date, they'll talk it through with you, and as tiger said I wouldn't worry:)0 -
Bald Runner the great thing about IPA's is if your circumstances change then you inform the OR and he can suspend or reduce the IPA. Obviously if you get a pay rise it can go up
. But to be honest I wouldn't worry. BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Figure has to be agreed, then copy sent to you for signature. Then a 14 day cooling off period, then countersigned by OR. And then sent to Clarke Wilmott asking them to contact you about collecting the money - so not a quick process!
And don't worry about retirement, IPA's are flexible, just let them know of any reductions of income and the IPA is reassessed.0 -

Thanks All. If i retire and take the commutation (lump sum) can i pay a 'full & final' to cut the IPA short? I'd rather do that than drag it onIn the beginning, there was nothing.

Hi Baldrunner
Just to give you a rough idea. Went bc end nov,had interview 12th dec,had IPA proposal 22nd dec, c&w contacted me midddle jan and first payment i made 28th jan. Hope that gives you a rough idea. I think a lot will depend on how busy the OR's office is as well.DalipFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
