I want to buy a briquette maker. I don't mind online, offline or paying postage.
Here's the amazon.co.uk link

Try Ebay or Freecycle.
I know a couple of people on the Old Style board have bought these - one couldn't get the briquettes out at all and the other one found that they needed to wait a whole year befor ethe paper dried out enough to use them on their fire.

I'll gladly sell you mine. I'm still waiting for the bricks I made christmas day to dry out enough to use!
Sounds a great idea in theory but having soaked an entire newspaper in a bucket of water you then have to dry the things out. Leaving them in the greenhouse doesn't work, sticking them on the radiator leaves marks, same with leaving them by the boiler and in the airing cupboard. When you do eventually get them to light the centres are still wet and you get lots of steam produced, dropping the temp of the fire and making for a less efficient burn. They also produce a lot of very fine dusty ash. The bit about them lasting for an hour should be taken with a pinch of salt. The main body of the thing is gone in 20 mins.
Use the £20 you'd waste on this to go to a pub with a log burner and enjoy a pint and their heat for an evening!Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
