Family Days Out

Can anyone recommend any good Family Fun Days in the North / East Antrim area?
It'll be Mum, Dad, six year old son and thirteen month old daughter. Im thinking of a fun farm in Finvoy but that's about it so far.

Any help appreciated.

Finvoy Fun Farm is great fun for the kids but the day can be very long for the adults. Loads of toys for the kids to play on, both inside and out. Have you thought of the Crescent in Portstewart? Outdoor fun all week but packed out on Sunday afternoon. It has the benefit of lovely surroundings and some decent eateries nearby for the adults and lots of ice cream parlours when the time comes to get the children to leave! Giants Causeway also a good day out but dependent on weather. Ballycastle good fun too. A great park and the seafront has something for everyone. Again, weather permitting. Will come back with some more as I think of them.

Thanks Polly, we're going to try Finvoy Fun Farm tomorrow, but Ballycastle is on the definite list before school starts.
If you have any more they will be gratefully received, there's no limit to the fun!

Went to Finvoy last week and wasn't impressed. Our 20 month old could only really get on 1 car/buggy, the rest too advanced. Granted, it was slightly damp (rained earlier) but the donkey was tied to a post, looking extremely pi%%ed off, there was one barn with several animals in them, but in general, not impressed. We went to Indiana Land in Dundonald(recommended) Portrush (enjoyed it) and Lagan Valley Complex in Lisburn (would go again)

    Hope this helps,

    Damien

I've a 20 month old as well, what's in the lagan valley place to entertain him?

Well, back from Finvoy, and I have to say we were very impressed. I have to agree there is not much for the smaller children but she entertained herself just fine with all the toys. They are also finishing a soft play area which will be ready tomorrow [typical].
Also managed to a free adult ticket before we went to the farm, :money: so moneysaving, good time and two tired kids [and parents]. :j

Must admit I have always found it to be good entertainment (if you can stand the smell!) but then it very much depends on the age of the children. The public park at Lansdowne in Portrush is also a great day out. There's a charge for admission to the children's play area but its only £1.40 or something like that, with under 3's free. They stamp the child's hand when you pay and this means that you can come and go throughout the day and not have to pay again. Your six year old will find lots to do but the baby will be safely occupied too. Lots of free parking nearby. Have fun, whatever you decide to do. :)

We went to Carnfunnock Country Park outside Larne last Saturday with an 8 year old, a couple of 4 year olds and a couple of babies (11 months and 13 months).

Very enjoyable and surprisingly, not at all crowded. Things to do - check out the maze - great place for hide and seeks, nice playground, crazy golf and small putting green, miniature railway and bouncy castle. Bouncy castle was pricey at 70p for 5 mins but there was a lot of free stuff too.

We took our own picnic as it was a nice day and it's a lovely country setting.

The People's Park in Ballymena is also a great place to spend a (dry) day. There are two parks but both your children should enjoy the one for the younger children. Free admission and lots of open space for a picnic. There's also a coffee shop/toilets/tourist info if required. Thinking about these places has made me realise how infrequently I visit the places on my doorstep but think nothing of getting in the car and driving to Belfast Zoo (50 miles) or Exploris in Portaferry (75 miles)!

    Hi Polly  ,
I take it you have been to Exploris in Portaferry. We have been thinking about going but don't want to travel that far to be disappointed!
