New car in my name?

Well try again after that last botched attempt:rotfl:

As some of you know I went BR at the beginning of the month and I have had my OR interview so what would be the situation here - my father, who I have to help get around because he is unwell, as offered to buy me a new car, would the OR need to be informed and would he see this has an assett? Thanks in advance for any advise:D

H asked the OR during our interview about him buying himself an old banger now and the OR's exact words were "what you do now is up to you, I would have no interest in this" :)

let HIM buy it, in HIS name, and register it in HIS name, with you as a named driver on his insurance or a "any driver" policy

once discharged swap V5 into your name

That's what I'd do, have your father buy the car with his money, in his name. Don't transfer the money to you and then you buy the car because if the car belongs to your father and there is a paper chase to it, there is no way it can be deemed to belong to you and it will be safe.

After much thought I decided to take the plunge and ask my OR what the situation would be if my dad bought me a car and put it in my name, obviously if it was no good it would have gone in his name but I thought I might has well ask and at least all of us would know. So after hovering the phone for atleast 30mins scared to dial I did it and she was lovely. I was told it would be no problem for him to buy me the car and have it in my name but if I liked I could send in proof, a reciept or something, just for the record, although this would be for my benefit not mine, as she put it 'Incase anyone wanted to question why I was driving around in a new car a few weeks after going bankrupt', which would be very unlikely. Just thought I'd share that information anyway.

    I don't see the problem.

Your dad buys the car - he owns it.

You are put on the form as the registered keeper. You insure it. Plenty of cars are owned by people other than the registered keeper - leased cars for instance.
