Huge McCartney pension fund

I'm just curious. Whenever I get a communication from my pension providers there is a comment that my fund is some very low percentage of the maximum allowance (around £1.5m - the max that is), and dire warnings if I exceed it. Now, as widely and entertainingly published, P. McCartney has a pension fund of £36m. How does that work? Is he actually getting favourable tax treatment on that amount? Is it all stashed in the IOM?

The limits only came into effect on 6 April 2006. It is more than likely that he accumulated the money before that.
Given that Linda Eastman was domiciled within the US - and indeed went back there to die - it is more probable that Paul has investments in the United States (including excluded property trusts created by Linda) than in the Isle of Man.0
