What do I do?! Avoiding temptation....

Since splitting with my ex, I have taken on my house on my own. I'm getting used to having a lot less money, and have £250 left a month, which is fine. I am looking into getting a Saturday job, just for a bit of extra cash.
My neighbour has kindly offered to add me on to her holiday (to the dominican) in June, for less than £600 for 2 weeks 24hr all inc. 5star etc etc.
I am sue a bonus from work in the next few months which SHOULD be around the £1200 mark. BUT the holiday needs to be paid for in the next couple of weeks.
DO I credit card it and then pay off the card when I get my bonus? OR be sensible and not go?! and then cry when I have to watch my neighbour go!! ha ha
My parents said they would help out with spending money etc so I wouldnt have to worry about that too much, and I thought I could make some money for it ebaying if need be.
I have a devil and angel on my shoulder!

Who are you paying the money to for the holiday ? If its not a cash deal and you time it right you should be able to either avoid or pay very little interest on that amount by the time you get the bonus to pay off the balance.

I'd do it! I know I'm not the best example but really, if you're sure you'll be able to pay the £600 back quickly then I'd go for it- it's an excellent price!

  • GO! We all need to treat ourselves at one time or another. Credit card it until you get your bonus. Life should be fun.

Well i think i can safely say you didn't pay that lot off from the proceeds of gambling. :rotfl:
But if you took advantage of all the freebies with no loss then well done. A significant number of punters dont and some of them become compulsive gamblers to their eternal cost. I do know this as an irrefutable fact.
    Well done anyway.

Nope, definitely not the gambling type. If I was to throw money away irresponsibly I'd rather spend it on shoes :D A significant amount of my debt paying was due to taking advantage of the freebies and yes, with no loss to myself. Thank you.

  • Hi LLL - I would say as long as you can trust yourself to pay off the balance in full when you get your bonus then go for it! You might not get the opportunity again to go on a holiday yourself like this given that you say you only have £250 to live off each month and as your parents have offered the spending money then I think that all helps. You could even try and really cut back on the spare £250 a month or use part of it to fund holiday clothes etc if you really wanted to be good :-)

you are right, i can do it on a very tight budget, and defo will pay it off when i get my bonus - had such a !!!!py year last year with my break up that I need an escape!
I would be paying it to Thomas Cook, its cheaper cos she gets a discount and is just adding me on. At least I wont have to worry about spending money for food and drink etc.

Postpone going on any holiday until you've cleared your debts.
