Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place (it is vaguely loan related!), and that it's a bit long.

I have a loan with Egg with finishes in June this year. In January rather than taking my monthly payment they tried to take the full outstanding amount from my bank, which caused me to go over my limit and get charged.

Rang Egg and spoke to some numptie who didn't have a clue what was going on, but would find out and call me back, she didn't so I rang them again and this time got some nice bloke who sorted the problem straight away, put my account back to how it should of been and cancelled my fee for the missed payment. He also provided me with an address to write to, to claim back my charge from the bank.

Sent a letter to Egg stating the facts and enclosed a copy of the charge letter from bank. Got a reply on 8 feb saying sorry and the refund would be in my account within 14 days. 3 weeks later no refund, so rang again, lots of waiting on hold while she tried to find out what was happening, she eventually couldn't find out so would ring me back. Fast forward another 2 weeks, still no refund so rang again and they still can't find out whats going on and are going to ring me back. Jump forward another 2 weeks and still no phone call or refund.

I shall be ringing them again on Tuesday. If I still don't get anywhere anyone know where I go from here, or how to word a letter to them, and do you think I should ask to be reimbursed for the amount of time I have spent on the phone to them?

Cheers in advance

  • you need to ring the loan customer services team and explain that it's now been seven weeks since you received acknowledgement of the error, it should be sorted within an eight week timescale. They will speak to customer relations team and organise the agreed renumeration. Ask for a CHAPS transfer due to the delay as will be quicker to reach your account.

the CRO office will only be open 9-5 so make sure you ring in the right time else whoever you speak to won't be able to contact them.
